The current name, Capo Mannu, appeared in<br \/>Latin in 1590 and in Spanish as &#8220;Cabo Ma\u00f1o&#8221; in 1620. Built in 1572<br \/>to guard the cove of Su Pallosu and oversee the tuna fishery, the<br \/>tower watched over the north coast of Sinis as far as Is Arenas, the<br \/>cliffs of Santa Caterina, and the tower of Capo Nieddu. In 1572,<br \/>Camos indicated the construction of a simple tower to protect the<br \/>salt pans.
